MemOle ("the App", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. Unless we explicitly say otherwise, the study materials and progress in your private library are treated as private study data, while Public Decks are content you choose to publish to a public library.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in using Apple or Google, we receive your basic profile information (name, email address).
- Private study content: Notes, photos, PDFs, YouTube links, and other materials you provide to create flashcards and quizzes, along with the private flashcards and quizzes generated from them. Photos and documents may be stored temporarily for processing and are deleted after processing where applicable.
- Private learning data: Flashcards, study progress, and spaced repetition schedules stored in your private library.
- Public Decks you publish: If you choose to publish a deck to the public library, we store a public copy of that deck in Supabase. Public Deck data may include the deck title, language, flashcards, publication date, card count, copy/import count, and source deck id. We also store an internal Firebase user id for the publishing user for abuse prevention and moderation until the deck is anonymized. Do not publish personal, confidential, or sensitive information in Public Decks.
- Public Deck activity: We store import records to prevent duplicate imports, enforce import limits, and maintain the integrity of the Public Deck feature.
- Purchase information: Subscription or add-on purchases, handled through Apple and RevenueCat.
- Technical & Device Identifiers: Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics.
- Device Identifiers: We may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and other unique identifiers to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, subject to your explicit consent via the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the App's core private study functionality and sync private study data via Firebase.
- Process notes, photos, PDFs, and YouTube-derived study materials to generate flashcards and quizzes.
- Host, search, display, and import Public Decks using Supabase infrastructure.
- Prevent abuse, moderate Public Decks, prevent duplicate imports, and enforce import limits.
- Process purchases through Apple and RevenueCat.
- Improve reliability by investigating and fixing crash reports.
- Marketing & Measurement: We use your data to measure our advertising campaigns and to show MemOle to people who are interested in using it. This includes using the TikTok Business SDK to track app installs and specific events like "Registration" or "Subscription".
2a. Product Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to understand how users interact with the App.
- Anonymity: We capture usage events using a random, temporary identifier that does not track you across other apps.
- Public Deck search statistics: We may store aggregate Public Deck search statistics such as normalized search term, language code, result counts, zero-result counts, day/date, and counters to improve search quality and catalog coverage. We use this information for product improvement and analytics, not to profile individual users.
2b. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
In accordance with Apple’s policies, we use the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
- Your Choice: We will ask for your permission before tracking your activity across other companies’ apps and websites.
- Purpose: This tracking allows us to optimize our ad campaigns on platforms like TikTok and ensures we reach the most relevant audience.
- Opt-out: You can change your tracking preferences at any time in your iOS device settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share limited information with:
- TikTok: We use the TikTok Business SDK to send event data (such as app installs and purchases) to TikTok for advertising measurement and audience optimization. This may include sharing hashed email addresses and device identifiers.
- Apple & Google (Login and purchases).
- RevenueCat (Subscription management).
- Firebase (authentication, private study data sync, security, and crash reports).
- Supabase (Public Deck storage, search infrastructure, and import records).
- PostHog (Product analytics).
- Google Vertex AI / Gemini (Content generation).
4. Data Retention & Security
- Hashed Data: When sharing contact information with advertising partners, we use industry-standard hashing (SHA-256) to protect your email before it leaves your device.
- Private study data: Your private notes, uploads, flashcards, quizzes, and study progress are stored until account deletion or a valid removal request, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or operational reasons. Photos and documents are deleted after processing where applicable.
- Public Decks: If you publish a deck, the public copy may remain available in the public library after account deletion in anonymized form. Before anonymization, a published deck may remain internally linked to your Firebase user id for abuse prevention and moderation.
- Imported copies: If other users import your Public Deck into their own private libraries, those imported copies may remain even if you later delete your account or the original public deck.
- Operational records: Import records, aggregate Public Deck search statistics, and purchase records may be retained as reasonably necessary to operate the service, prevent abuse, enforce limits, and comply with legal obligations.
5. Your Rights
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your data.
- Delete your account in the App, which removes your private study data subject to the retention limits described above.
- Request review, removal, or anonymization of a Public Deck by contacting us at newdevway@gmail.com.
- Contact us at newdevway@gmail.com for privacy-related requests.
6. Security
We use Firebase App Check and other reasonable safeguards to protect against unauthorized access across our private study and Public Deck systems. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. AI Disclosure
MemOle uses Artificial Intelligence to generate flashcards and quizzes from user-provided materials. Public Decks may contain AI-generated and/or user-generated content published by users. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of study content, and users should verify important facts before relying on it.
